South Africa World Cup preview of the Games - Sunday 20 June

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Sunday night brings five times winners Brazil back on the football field. They will face the Ivory Coast at 19:30. Paraguay will play 12:30 Slovakia and the other match in Group F 15:00 see the world champions Italy face New Zealand in

The early kick at 12:30 clock shows left Paraguay and Slovakia. With Roque Santa Cruz in Paraguay, the line-up will ensure the knock-out stages of progress. Although Slovakia has played well in their world cupQualification I think it is for them to make the last sixteen hard. I predict a 0-0 draw as both teams will look to take something from their game.

The 3-Clock Kick-off is the current world football champions play their second game of the tournament against the team from Down Under. 4 years ago they played another team from Down Under. The Australians came within 1 minute, the Italians a penalty kick. With a goal from the leftback, the Italians went on to win the world championship time for the 4th. Somehow I do not think that New Zealand are in the same league as Australia. Do not have a world-famous players and so I predict a simple 3-0 win Auzzari one to the.

Five-time world champion Brazil maintained Ivory Coast. As one of the strongest African nations at the World Cup, Ivory Coast with their star striker Drogba is the Dider represent a major threat to Braziltheir qualifying group. I predict a great game open ends in a 3-2 victory to Brazil. Somehow it's always the big teams, assert themselves.

Victory of Pakistan Hockey in 1994 Sydney World Cup

Image : http://www.flickr.com

One of the most memorable wins for Pakistan in Hockey is the World Cup win in 1994 that brought to the forefront a hero - Shahbaz Ahmad. He went on to become one of the best forwards in the history of Pakistan Hockey. After having joined the national hockey team in 1986, he masterminded a brilliant win - the 1994 world cup. Shahbaz Ahmad was nicknamed "the man with the electric heels" and led Pakistan from the front in the 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989 Champions Trophy tournaments; 1988 Seoul Olympics; 1989 Asia Cup in New Delhi; 1990 World Hockey Cup in Lahore; 1990 BMW Trophy Amsterdam; 1990 Beijing Asiad and the most memorable of them all - the 1994 World Cup Hockey in Sydney.

The Hockey World Championships is considered to be an international field hockey competition just like FIFA soccer world cup where teams from across the world participate to win the coveted cup. It is organized once every 4 years by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The first world cup was started in 1971. There are two versions of the Hockey world cup - the men's and the women's. So far five countries have dominated the Hockey world cup but the most successful team is Pakistan who has won it four times. The Netherlands has won the Hockey world cup three times, Germany two times while both India and Australia have won it once. The 2010 Hockey world cup is going to be held in India.

In fact, the entire concept of the Hockey World Cup was conceived by Air Marshal Nur Khan of Pakistan. The idea was proposed to FIH under the name of Patrick Rowley who was the first editor of the World Hockey magazine. The idea got the approval on 26th October, 1969 and was adopted by the then FIH Council in a meeting that was held in Brussels on 12th April, 1970. The FIH came to the conclusion that the inaugural or first hockey World Cup should be held in Pakistan in October 1971. However, due to political strife and several other issues, the venue of the World Cup was moved from Pakistan to the Real Club de Polo grounds in Barcelona, Spain.

The 1971 Hockey world cup in Spain was won by Pakistan who defeated Spain 1-0 in the finals. In the 1994 World Cup in Sydney Australia, Pakistan was up against a strong opponent - The Netherlands. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and went into extra time and then into penalties. Pakistan then went on to win the final on penalties and the score line read 4-3. This was the 4th world cup for Pakistan and Shahbaz Ahmad led them to victory in style. This further reinforced Pakistan as one of the top hockey playing countries of the world. Shahbaz Ahmad also won another laurel - the player of the tournament.

As the 2010 Hockey world cup date draws close, we will have to wait and watch out for the "men in green!"

Argentina's coach, former legend Diego Maradona, who gave the soccer shirt 10 an iconic status back in the day, prayed for divine intervention hoping that his team reaches the 2010 World Cup at South Africa. After a 3-1 defeat against rival Brazil, that too, on home ground, things don't look too good for the Argentineans. It was their first defeat at home after being defeated 5-0 by Colombia 16 years back. But Maradona stood his ground, repeating, "The bearded one (God) saved me many times before - and I hope he will do so this time."

Having lost to Paraguay as well, Argentina now stand fifth in the continental group, a place below the final qualifying berth. Ready to take on Peru on home ground, plus a make or break match against Uruguay, Argentinean fans are keeping their fingers crossed, as is their coach. "We have to get it into our heads that these two games are crucial to our hopes and we can't keep giving things away such as we did against Brazil," said Maradona. Recently, while on a slimming course in Italy, fans surrounded him, complaining that a World Cup without Argentina just wouldn't be the same... He is said to have responded, "Don't worry, Argentina will be there." So, it's a match against the Peruvians and another crucial game against arch rivals Uruguay that'll decide Argentina's fate. Both Argentina and Uruguay could be vying for fifth place in the South American qualifying group, making it a critical match.

Meanwhile, Brazilian coach Dunga has earmarked a 24 man team before the South American group's final two games, hoping to give more players experience. Brazil will soon play Bolivia, followed by Venezuela. Dunga explained, "We have two games ahead and the first one is very wearing, but we'll try to do our best in Bolivia... Despite we have already qualified, we're Brazil and we have to win always. We try to keep the group and give chances to some new players."

Spain's soccer uniform number 6, Xavi Hernandez, feels that England is a strong candidate that can come in the way of Spain's World Cup dreams. Backing England as one of his favorites to win the 2010 World Cup, the midfielder feels that, "England were the big absence from Euro 2008 and I expect they are itching to show they can win the World Cup. World Cup Spotlight - David Villa

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The Spanish team has done incredibly well in South Africa this year. Much of that is thanks to star striker David Villa, who has scored 5 of the team's 7 goals.

David Villa was born in Langreo, in northern Spain, on December 3, 1981. The 28 year old currently plays for Barcelona, but has also played for La Liga teams Sporting Gijon, Zaragoza and Valencia since starting his professional career in 1999. He made his move to Barcelona in May 2010.

Acquiring this golden star was no mistake for the city; he is the second best all-time scorer for Spain. (Raul Gonzalez has the record with 44 goals.) Villa has played for his country in the 2006 World Cup, the Euro 2008, and the 2010 World Cup. Villa scored three goals in 2006, four in Euro 2008 and five so far this World Cup. Many say that his ambition and strength have helped lead Spain to the position they are in today; undefeated save two games since November 2006.

And though he is not the top Spanish scorer, he has what may be an even more impressive rank: between 2005 and 2009 he scored the most goals in the world. His 156 goals in four years earned him the IFFHS titles of 4th best scorer in 2009 and top scorer at the international level in 2010.

David Villa fought great odds to end up where he is today. He fractured his femur when playing as a child, and doctors were not sure he would be able to continue playing the sport he loves. Thankfully for Spain, he made a full recovery. Due to the effort to heal put in by David and the support of his father, Jose Manuel, Villa became an ambidextrous player.

David Villa will play in the 2010 World Cup finals with his team against the Netherlands July 11.

World Cup Superstars - Who is the greatest player?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Every four years a World Cup will come and take a football fan thought and time for weeks. Game after game, the best footballer in the world their skills in front of thousands at the stadium and millions watch the parade on TV again in their homes.

Players

Players usually make the World Cup, what it is. If there were not great players, we would certainly not be watching this tournament in large numbers,we do. In previous World Cup finals we have seen the emergence of a great talent, talents, we can not see normally.

History

Which players have to discover the world after displaying their skills in previous World Cups? It would be far too many variables to be able to list in detail and has always always been heated discussions about who the greatest player of all time, two players always on the head of thethe debate.

Let's look at these players credentials.

Diego Armando Maradona [Argentina]

[World championship titles: 1982, 1986 (winners), 1990 (2nd), 1994]

Maradona is a flawed genius, no one has ever raised his talents and be able to press the self-destruction with such great effect. Never before has a player been credited with winning the 1986 World Cup trophy with one hand as in Mexico. Even in the notorious 1986Quarter-final and scoring what is widely the best goal ever scored in the Finals considered. After picking the ball in his own half, he managed to dribble your way through a hi quality England side before slotting the ball past Peter Shilton, the England goalkeeper on the day.

The Argentine team, with whom he played in this tournament were all excellent players but maybe not good enough to lift the trophy. But with Maradona at the height of his power could onlybe a team that could possibly win.

Maradona also helped his nation to the final of the 1990 World Cup Italy and only lost in the German Andy Brehme penalty by.

However, it was after failing a doping test in 1991, his career on the way back, and then his last appearance came on the biggest stage of football.

In 1994, the World Cup in the United States when he scored in the first game of the Argentines against Greece anyone who watched hisCelebration knew it was not just that the little magician adreneline powered. Eyes glaring into the camera, knew the hearts of Argentines that drugs were fueling their talismanic captain. A drug test followed and the inevitable positive result Maradona's tournament and effectively ended his career.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento - Pele

[World championship titles: 1958 (winners), 1962 (winners), 1966, 1970 (winner)]

The only similarity betweenPele and Maradona is that they come from the same continent. Pele was the original World superstar, enjoying a career, the professional model A can be regarded as a being.

Pele's credentials are there for all to see, he set up goals, he was an instrumental leader on and off the field, and he also scored goals. In fact, the amount of goals he scored an important power for themselves.

His record is phenomenal, scoring five goals in a game six times, four goals and 30 timesthree goals 90 times. These figures are the modern player can never dream of matching. In his illustrious career as a player, he scored an amazing total of 1283 to achieve. In his international career he scored an astonishing 77 goals in 92 appearances. However, there was a lot more to offer than "just" goals Pele.

He will also be recalled repeatedly as the only player in history to win the World Cup on three occasions, a feat that is unlikely ever to. Only an injury in 1966 inEngland may have kept him from winning the World Cup on four consecutive occasions, so that a fine England side to become world champion for the first time.

He was captain of the greatest team of all time, the 1970 Brazil side that won the tournament so convincingly in Mexico. Who has the last game of the tournament, which Brazil defeated Italy observed by four goals to one, is on the skill and vision of the original sum astonished FootballPage.

Since Pele hung his playing boots for over 20 years and is still dominated by football fans, the evidence never seen him in his prime by the great man's passion and skill for the biggest game of all worships.

Other major players

Many others have graced the biggest Cup tournament in the world is that, but the above two players are two previously announced as the largest. But who would complete the top ten?

Gordon Banks, Eusebio,Puskas, Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Franz Beckenbauer, Garrincha and the Johann Cruyff to name but a few. In fact, many modern critics like Cruyff as the greatest modern player, a player who helped the game in the way of playing shape you see today.

Then there are players who do not manage to show their talents to Ireland at the World Cup, which is worth the end, great George Best in the North. The other major absentee voting is Alfredo DiStefano. There are actually many Latin Americans would hail the 'Blonde Arrow' Di Stefano as the greatest player who has seen the world, ever.

World Cup Penalty games and tips for a successful penalty shoot-out (Part 1 - goalkeeper)

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Probably the most famous World Cup penalty failure ever, Baggio, Italy's star player during the tournament in 1994 America stood, Roberto main bowed in horror after he drove the penalty Cup world that Brazil's hands. Since then, illustrious career, Baggio Brazil always haunted by his penalty against melancholy, as he described in his autobiography, "Una Porta nel cielo - A door in the sky

World Cup Playersare not technically in the game they usually have the best, should have no problem finding the back of the net. However, increasingly take a penalty will be a nerve-racking situation with the weight of expectation and responsibility enough to turn the strongest legs to jelly.

Keeper of view is the body language of the penalty taker, the goalkeeper of the first idea what his opponent's mind. Famous Oliver Kahn said in Germany: "You can read a lot of bodyLanguage of the players and where they place they think ... It is a psychological duel between the goalkeeper and the penalty taker "By understanding the body language signal, the goalkeeper may ways the enemy to distract concentration are mentioned as Kahn." You can attract him with your body language, you can see if a player anxious, and you can see from his eyes when he takes a small mistake in the corner, the ball does. "

Some of the psychological tricks that havepreviously also jumping on the front of the diving left to right use (Jens Lehmann - Germany in 2006 against Argentina), is a sudden attack of hands before the shooting or a steely gaze towards the opponent (Petr Cech, the Czech Republic). An unpopular, but effective trick was used by Ricardo - Portugal where David Bechkham in 2006. He was waiting for Beckham to come too close to the spot, and said short sentences with warning gestures, his eyes would see the ballcarefully. Well that's enough to make a star player like Beckham crack under the pressure. (See clip below). Others may think football, they hop up and down and give shooters. However, it is used, as long as the shooter is distracted or intimidated, the goalkeeper has the better chance of success.

Czech Republic goalkeeper Petr Cech believes that in addition to body language, homework and preparation that is needed to save a goal: "You have to do your homework, you know where thePlayers can shoot, what is his habit when he is waiting for the goalkeeper or if he chooses around the corner. "On the other hand, Kahn was that he not remember what he had researched about his opponent when his team beat Bayern Munich, Valencia sanctions of the 2001 Champions League final:" I remember very clearly, I was my coach Sepp Maier together to figure out what all the players tactics. But I forgot everything. I just went through a stage of absolute concentration. Icould not hear the crowd, the supporters of anything. "Of course you do not need as much preparation as goalkeeper Jens Lehmann from Germany, who held a personal touch to each shooter favorite position in his shin pad.

So it is to stay strong for goalkeeper, calm, confident and important to the state of absolute concentration. You also need the ability to mentally very quickly after missing a shot for the next preparation. These are skills that usually demand some complicatedSport Psychology commitment.

Finally, a certain affirmation is very effective to build trust. A valuable commentary by Kahn, it is worth mentioning is your goalie, "Takers are those who can lose on penalties, those who win in the shootout and goalie eventually be the heroes can be."
